WOYWW #344

Good Morning Deskers!

I hope that you all had a lovely Christmas, whoever you spent it with and wish you a happy and healthy 2016 with lots of time for crafting fun.

I'm very glad to be back and joining in again at the  Stamping Ground blog where Julia invites us to link up each Wednesday.  Then we can take  a trip round the globe having a look at what's on everybody's work desk.

About a week ago I had a light bulb  moment when it occurred to me that the little XCut hole punch lying there on my desk was the size of Card Candi.

So I'm making candi with scraps of paper.  The cream pieces were punched from a strip of an old greeting card.  I'll use the piece of waste that's left when I get my gelli plate out next.

You can see I've used a small stamp on the blue scrap.  After punching out I emboss on the corner of my pricking mat with the large ended ball tool that is in the plastic box on the left.

The black and gold one in the box is from some wallpaper that was given to me by a friend.
Happy Crafting Everyone!

Hi Barb, super idea to use your scraps for card candi, I'm keeping cards etc for our grand daughter, so the punch idea is a great idea for her. Enjoy your week RobynO#21

Hi Barb, I just love what you are doing - it really appeals to my frugal spirit! You never need throw any scraps away if you do this. I love how you've stamped the card first and then punched it out so you get random letters, and then the plan to use the waste piece as a stencil for your gelli plate! (Gelli printing is another thing on my long list of things I want to do this year...) Hand embossing is fun, isn't it. I always do it with my flower petals and leaves.

Thank you for your great comment - I don't really feel as if I've done much since finishing my chemo because my mojo has been so conspicuously absent! It's nice to be getting back into things again, even if in only a small way. As for the cooking, I am hoping to make some cakes before Friday, for the chemo-ites on the chemo unit where I was - they deserve some treats! I've got to go in for a port flush on Friday. Very busy this week, though!

A very happy New Year to you and your hubby, too, and happy WOYWW!

What a great idea, I love using scraps for other things, when I cut copper foil flowers which I use in my glass projects I trim the waste into leaves, that way they are all slightly different.

What a great idea. I'm not really a paper crafter but do appreciate what you girls make/do.
Here's hoping we can all enjoy and share many happy crafty times in 2016.

Great idea Barb :) Since I do a lot of collage in my mixed media work I sort my endless scraps into plastic boxes (from my Mom's cinnamon roll obsession, recycled) by color. Then when I am making something I can grab the right color piece. It has been really fun too see the boxes get more empty and then refill again when I make something big. Thanks for visiting my blog earlier :) Shel/PaperOcotilloStudio #14

What a brilliant idea - well done for thinking of it. Great colours and patterns - will make very unusual candi.
Thanks for the visit and the comments. John is certainly a different person from 2 weeks ago when sitting by his bed in the hospital I was convinced - and so was he - that death was very close. Not sure the medics can quite believe what is happening - they keep coming round and asking how things are going!!!
Take care. God bless.

That's a good way to use up leftovers. I seemed to have gathered a while bunch of them over the holiday season. Good start to the crafting year.

Light bulb moments are great Barb, I had one when I was looking at musical Christmas scenes in The Range before Christmas. I decided to buy family presents instead of individual ones. Saved myself loads of hassle, time and money.
Happy new year to you

Hi Barb, thanks for the earlier visit. the frog tape is made for painters ( and its supposed to keep the edges sharp lol) so, there is probably a trick to it. ( like using wider tape and not die cutting stitched ( holes on the edges dies) to use for masking lol. ~Stacy #55 oooh I love using up scraps :)

I had planned to visit sooner, but right after I linked to Julia, my electricity went off. It came back on a short time ago, so now I'm trying to catch up with everyone.

I have NO idea what card candi is, but anytime I can use up scraps, I'm happy. Even the smallest amount shouldn't go to waste in my opinion. It's a great way to be frugal, that's for sure. Happy WOYWW on Thursday from #1.

What a great idea, and then another brilliant moment when the waste from the scrap becomes something for the gelli plate, good grief! Keep on with the inspiration Barb!

Happy New Year Barb! I, too, am puzzling over the 'card candi'... is it like confetti that you put in a little bag on the card or something? Whatever it is: the little circles do look lovely!!! Happy (belated) woyww, have a great weekend. Love from the Netherlands, Marit #29
