Friday Smiles

Happy Friday Everyone!

Last week my Hubby had a special Birthday and so we had our special friends to stay for five days to help us celebrate.

This is the card from their youngest son and his family.  I don't think Sue would have chosen this card  hehe! so it's a jolly good job we love Steve!

The week was mainly hot and sunny and we got out and about quite a bit.

We spent a day in Cambridge where we had a punt ride on the River Cam with a wonderful commentary by the young man who did all the hard work.  In the evening eight of us went out for a delicious meal.

On Friday we spent the day in Coventry.   We visited the Cathedral, which is really beautiful and the Transport Museum.

The museum has recently been updated.  They have some beautiful old cars including Queen Mary's Daimler and lots of old bicycles and an amazing collection of Penny Farthings.

We ended our trip there with a ride on an amazing 4D simulator that took us on a land speed record attempt where the car actually broke the sound barrier (760mph)!!  Even though in reality I was just sitting in a theatre (with moving seats) the ride was really scary - but very exciting!

I'm linking up with Annie on her Stitch in Time blog where every Friday she invites us to join in to share things that we have enjoyed during the past week.

Belated happy birthday to your hubby. Sounds like you had a really good time. Nice weather does help, doesn't it.
I've visited Coventry in the 50s/early sixties and remember seeing the new cathedral which had just been built or was in the process of being built. I think it must have just been finished as I remember going inside. Very moving.
The transport museum sounds fun.
And of course I did smile at that birthday card with the unexplained noises and smells. Haha!
Have a wonderful Friday,
Lisca

I really liked that card, and hope both your friend's son enjoyed his card, and your husband had a wonderful birthday. It sounds like places I would enjoy, especially breaking the sound barrier. I have never seen a Penny Farthing, so that would be a real treat, too. Not sure what a punt ride is, but it sounds truly inspiring. Hope this weekend is equally wonderful.

Oh what a funny card from your son! Sounds like a very special BD celebration for your hubby! I actually went to Coventry when I was in England some 40 years ago & I still have the woven picture from Cash's Woven Pictures hanging on my dressing room wall!

Gosh - hard to imagine travelling at 760 mph - that must have been some experience even though you were stationary in reality.
Sounds as if you had a great time with all those friends, a ride in a punt in Cambridge is something I must do some day - lucky you and lucky husband for having such a wonderful special birthday.
Hugs, Neet xx
