Thank you for your visit today.
I've had very little time for crafting over the past couple of weeks but having bought 2 pads of papers with a doiley die and a set of 3 large background stamps I decided to have a quick play.
I stamped one of the backgrounds onto one of the papers the tried to cut out the doiley die. Well I tried and tried with various shims and finally gave up. None of the pieces would come out! So I inked up the doiley, pieces intact and cut it into two unequal pieces and stuck to the paper. Then I inked the edges with brown Distress ink and added seam binding at the bottom.
That's where I gave up with no idea how I was going to decorate it so I stuck it onto a square kraft card and went off to cook dinner.
By chance in the evening I checked out the Butterfly Challenge where I sadly haven't joined in recently. There was the answer. As the background paper had some of the right colour on it I decided on a peacock butterfly. So yesterday, with little time to spare I popped up to my cabin and put peacock DI on my messy mat, spritzed and dried it and made my butterfly. The sentiment circle and card candi are made from the waste.
I am pleased to be able to join in at Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge #93 . Just sorry I didn't have time to do any folds!

Gorgeous card! A lovely background for the wonderful butterfly. Shame the doily die won't cut but it looks cool as it is anyway! xxx

Hugs Babs x
Love your gorgeous card Barb, the doily pieces look wonderful inked, and if you hadn't explained about the problems you would think they were meant to be like that. The peacock butterfly and matching candi are so pretty :)
Hugs Kaz xx
Such a beautiful card Barb, I love the colours.

Amazing mixed media card! Great use of the bad cutouts of the doily die, no one would say that it's a recycling! Well done!!
This is beautiful, I love those colours together. Sometimes the best things come without a plan. Sorry you had such trouble with your die, it looks so lovely.
What a fabulous card Barb! You have a knack for the mixed media type of card, wish I did, sigh. Disappointing about your die but it looks fabulous like this, and like all you embellishing!
A beautiful card Barb, a fabulous colour combination and lovely design.

This one gorgeous card Barb. The butterfly is also very beautiful. Sorry to hear about the die but the doilys look fab though. Hugs Veerle x
I really like the fact the doily didn't cut properly, makes it a little different. The pop of turquoise on the butterfly and elements really stand out and compliment the vintage tone x
Hello Barb, what a wonderful card, the doylies look lovely, gorgeous colours and design. Shame about the die, but it worked out well nevertheless, Kate x
Sorry you had to fuss with the die cuts, but your card came out just stunning! I love the colors and all there is to see on this beautiful card!
Super stunning and love that butterfly .x [aNNie]
Well, Barb--you ended up with one gorgeous card! Love how you used the doily die cuts!
OH Barb, there you are! I keep peeking at the blog and didn't see any updates and then missed your last two! So hapy to see them and hope you are having a great new year so far!
This card is so pretty - love the doily and the butterfly and you know what, my friend, I didn't even notice the cut until I read your post! So it's PERFECT!! Xx

Hi Barb,
oh what a brilliant card and those doilies look super.
Love the colours of the Kraft and Peacock.
Beautiful butterfly also.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
That does look a rather intricate doily die. Am glad you managed to save it by inking up instead and it does look really good here with your background and the peacock butterfly. Glad you fluttered into the garden. Hugs Mrs A.
Such a shame that the die wouldn't cut. I don't what machine you have but I have a thin metal adapter cutting plate that I use with my cut n boss which works well with awkward dies, even if it is a weird rippled shape now! I know there's a precision plate for the big shot too. That said, the doily looks fab with all the bits in it and the kraft looks great with the peacock colours x
Keep trying different shims to cut your doily Barb, you’ll get there in the end!
Fabulous card, lovely colours.

Love the colourcombo (one of my favorites) and it is so beautiful! One to get a closer look of... Hugs, Gerrina
It's a beautiful card Barb and the colour combo is fabulous. Don't you just hate it when the dies won't cut out - I invested in a metal shim for those difficult to cut ones xx
Well! who would have thought it - looks like a perfectly planned card. I was wondering what doily die that was too!!!
Gorgeous card Barb...love the design and the pretty colours together...Try putting some card on top of the die...or as other have said a metal shim seems to work for me....Joolsx
A beautiful card, the background’s lovely.
xxx Hazel.
this is a lovely card Barb, great choice of colours. Thanks for sharing, Angela xXx
Beautiful card - I love the colour combo - the teal and brown work so well! Gorgeous! Hugs rachel x
What a pretty card Barb and I love that beautiful turquoise blue butterfly and the circular sentiment and card candi made from the waste look great. It was obviously rather frustrating to find the die impossible to cut but it looks perfect as it is over that lovely paper. x
