butterfly challenge #82

Evening all!

I've really had to think about this one as it's a bit outside my comfort zone because orange isn't a colour I use very often.

I used Fossilised Amber oxide distress ink randomly over my piece of card then after drying pounced like mad with ordinary Spiced Marmalade distress ink on a piece of bubble wrap over the top to get an orange peel coloured base!

I used an embossing folder on my piece of card then  rubbed Inka Gold over the middle section and added the piece of ribbon underneath.

The flower pot was laying on my desk  so I attached  that  with silicone glue and a punched out butterfly to decorate the bottom of my card and and  scraps of gold mirri and white linen card using SU punches for the two matching  butterflies at the top.

I added a few gems for decoration but the top left hand corner looked empty after I'd put the card together  so I stencilled the dots to match the bottom section and  add balance to my card.

This card really did just evolve as I made it but I was quite pleased with how it turned out in the end.   I would like to join in with Mrs A's  Butterfly Challenge blog #82

Orange isn't a colour I'm too happy working with either and my card sort of 'grew' as well. I like what you've done here and the colour is just right with the combination of colours used. Great idea having the butterflies fluttering out of the pot.

I love it when a card just evolves. After all that's what the butterflies do best. I love the addition of the flowerpot and your pouncing worked a treat. Thankyou for fluttering into the butterfly garden. Hugs Mrs A.

I think the Orange Peel challenge took a lot of us out of our comfort zone, but I love your background. You have nailed it perfectly. The whole card has come together so well, and the dots top left were a good addition. Kate x

It's a pretty coloured background a great way to get colour and texture using bubble wrap. (Remember when we used to do that on walls with plastic bags?) I like the look of the inka gold on the embossing.

Really lovely card, Barb! I really like the stenciled dots balancing out the dry embossing--great design! Sure wish I could send you some of our sun--we have way more than we need!

Beautiful card, Barb, lovely design. I don't often use orange on my cards either, which is probably why I keep putting off making a card for the Butterfly Challenge this fortnight. However, I've just realised that the challenge closes in a few hours, so I'd better get my skates on.....thanks for the reminder. xx

This turned out fabulous Bard, I had a hard time with this challenge too, orange is not a color I use often, I barely made it.

I shy away from orange like it has some highly infectious disease I could catch, so I applaud you for making this card, Barb. It works beautifully... xxx
