Fly Away!

Hello and thank you for dropping by.

My card today was made some time ago although it was never posted.

I recycled the front of a shop bought card for the background and used the now sadly retired Stampin' Up bird punch and a Marianne die for the cage.

I added the sentiment and a bow to finish the card.

I have used this idea several times using old card fronts with flowers for the background.  The punched and die cut elements were all snippets of scrap card.

I am joining in again with the challenge at
Pixies Snippets Playground Weeks 285 & 286.

My apologies for being absent for several challenges as I do like to join in with all the playmates.

Great idea for using up snippets. I have that punch and also the birdcage - what a good idea to use up pretty card fronts as backgrounds too. Hope you are getting on OK with your 3d folders, hopefully you found the list of 'sandwiches' for various machines but if not I've printed it off and can let you know which you need for your machine(s).

Great card Barb, good to read you used a 'received' card for the background. Most times they are way too pretty to 'throw' out. Love the design.xxx [aNNie]

Lovely card Barb! I carefully save all the Christmas cards I think can be upcycled but have never thought to do that with Birthday ones. Great idea!

Lovely to see you playing along in the Snippets Playground. We missed you.

Brilliant idea to recycle cards other than just Christmas ones Barb! And such a lovely result - love the birdcage and little bird :)

Lovely to see you playing along in the Snippets Playground. Missed you!!

My very first 'serious' boyfriend went to school in Malta before joining the Wilhelmshaven school. He would have been about 16 or 17 at the time, back in the early to mid 1960s. He loved it there! I also did three years in Malta (Tigne and Sliema) but was just a tot at the time.

Lovely card Barb - what a shame the bird punch has been retired as it is such a pretty die and the perfect addition to the cage die you have used. Hope you are well, x Anne

This is just fabulous, great idea to use a card front and built on it, I will be looking at all my cards differently now. Stampin Up retired a lot of things that surprised me, this is one of them.

The bird punch and the owl punch--two shockers to see retire from Stampin' Up. Good to see that you've kept hold of your bird. Lovely card. I like how you used a recycled background.
