Butterfly with Ferns!

Welcome and thank you for visiting.

Well the exciting news is that earlier this week I was one of the very lucky winners of Rachel's Mystery Candy box - a very generous gift voucher.   I've enjoyed hours of browsing!

I made this card to enter into Mrs A's
Butterfly Challenge  #72 (P for Paper Piercing and/or  colour Fern.

I know I've got a fern stamp lurking somewhere but this is the best I could come up with after a major hunt and I was obviously having a senior moment as I just needed the colour fern, not a stamp.

I already had  the background which is white card spritzed with a green spray,  years ago so I stamped round the edge and pierced the corners.

I also pierced a circle on the green scalloped mount but I need not have bothered as it doesn't show up on the photo because I used a very fine pokey tool for that job.  I added some sparkly pen to the dragon flies and underside of the butterfly wings then went over the top with distress inks!!!

I hope you like my card.   I wasn't too unhappy with how it turned out in the end.

Absolutely beautiful, and what's more you've given me an idea. I was a bit flummoxed by the piercing part, but I think it was on your blog a year or so ago I saw a mention of circle piercing templates so I bought some and they are still in the packet - time to play I think!

Lovely card, Barb. I like the little touch of paper piecing detail in the corners and the colour is perfect. Isn't it such a bonus when you get to use up something you've had for ages. Elizabeth xx

You should be pleased with your card, the background is beautifully soft and reminds me of a warm summer day. I can hear the bees buzzing.

Gosh Barb, you've been busy this week with the cards and this one is lovely. I had noticed the photo of Amber before but just didn't notice the chocolates, I'm surprised they are not all eaten, I know my two given half a chance would eat the lot. Happy crafty weekend, Angela xXx

Great card Barb, I can relate to senior moments but think in this instance the textured Oren Stamping looks fab, love the piercing too. Not something I do much.
Thanks for sharing your inspiration!

Your card is cool. It's like a peek into a nature reserve with all those ferns and flying things.

The fern stamp was worth finding as it looks really pretty here Barb and I adore the dragonflies and the larger butterfly on the edge of that scalloped sentiment mat and the piercing does show up when you enlarge the photo. Altogether a wonderful card. x

I have fern stencils but would love a fern stamp in my kit. Can you remember where this one is from?
This card, btw, looks amazing. xxx
